And just like that, we bought yet another car this weekend.
Townes lasted two weeks. On week two of his life with us I was on my way to the dealer to pick up another key fob, as he was sold to us with only one, when I was rear ended by an idiot who was clearly not paying attention! “I’m sorry I was distracted, I wasn’t paying attention.” One ambulance ride to Harborview Medical Center (the best trauma hospital in the area) later, and all day in the ED making sure everything was ok, and we are now dealing with insurances and things and stuff involved with this. Townes was taken to the repair shop where he was declared a total loss! I can’t think of any other reason for so many things having gone wrong with Townes, other than he was doomed from that start and maybe it was a good thing that he was totalled? My back and neck don’t think it was a good thing, but that’s a story for a different blog. :-)
Anyway, that’s one story summarized. We had our shakedown cruise a month ago. I didn’t think that when you take a shakedown cruise, things really do rattle and shake! I don’t know what I was thinking would happen when you take a 30 year old RV, full of beads and baubles on the road. A literal shakedown. We arrived in one piece, nothing fell over, nothing landed on the road and we hooked up at our arrival spot and went on to enjoy the festivities at a friend’s house. When it was time to hunker down, we decided to sleep in the main bed, which we figured would be cooler than the overhead.
At some point that night, I got up and walked on something wet. I thought it might just have been from us having come in with wet feet since it had been raining. I didn’t think much of it, wiped my feet and went back to bed. In the morning, there was a pool of water on the floor! Turns out the pipes under the kitchen sink had no teflon tape around the couplings and water had been leaking out all night long. Sigh.
We sloshed back home and thankfully this was something I could fix pretty easily and no more leaking!
Last weekend, was my daughter-in-law and son’s baby shower. We were looking forward to take Max on a three hour trip to Cinebar, WA, but now we have no house battery. Even while having shore power plugged in something drained the battery and we had to nix taking Max with us. We are now waiting for a friend of ours to come by and poke around and see what he can find. Honestly, I really don’t care what else I have to fix on Max, I just want him to get us to Costa Rica or Belize or Panama or wherever we decide to plant our flag and leave Max there to sprout weeds. I’m so very over this.
I am pieces of all the places I have been, and the people I have loved.
